In addition to the stressors of clinical work, many healthcare workers also play an important caregiving role at home. You may worry about transmitting the virus to family or loved ones. You may face additional stressors in your home life from the disruptions caused by the virus including lack of childcare, unemployment, financial concerns, and new difficulties obtaining basic groceries and cleaning supplies. We recognize that as medical students, you may play a variety of different social roles outside of the hospital. You may be responsible for translating medical information for friends and family. Due to cultural, historical, or gender issues, you may be called on to represent a community. In this section, we will outline strategies to care for yourself and loved ones in an ongoing disaster situation.
